WESTFIELD, Mass. – The 2017-18 season ended on a high note for the Johnson & Wales University women's golf team. The Wildcats broke the program single-round record to finish second at the Westfield State Invitational at Tekoa Country Club.
Johnson & Wales fired a 367 on the second day, lowering the school record by six strokes, for a two-day total of 743. JWU finished three strokes back of Suffolk.
Freshman Alexis Anastos fired an 86 on Sunday to finish with a two-day score of 176 (90-86) that is the lowest 36-hole score in school history. Junior Megan LeBlanc carded a career-low 85 in the final round to finish two strokes back in fourth place at 178 (93-85). Caroline Mettler shaved four strokes off her first day for a two-day total of 188 (96-92). Hannah Lifschin rounded out the scores with a 201 (97-201).
The Wildcats should take another step forward next year as all four players return for 2018-19.
