BREWSTER, Mass. – A day after the lowest team round in school lore, more history was made by the Johnson & Wales University women's golf team at the NEIGA Women's Invitational, held at the Captains GC. Freshman Alexis Anastos became the first Wildcat to win a tournament as she claimed medalist honors.
Johnson & Wales finished second with a two-day score of 762 (376-386), the lowest 36-hole total in the program's four-year history. Suffolk won the event at 739.
Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa.) prevailed by three strokes with a winning score of 177 (86-91). Posting the best 36-hole score of her career was junior Megan LeBlanc (Madison, Conn.) at 186 (92-94). Personal-best totals were turned in by sophomore Hannah Lifschin (Denville, N.J.) at 198 (99-99) and classmate Caroline Mettler (Bluffton, Ind.) with a 201 (99-102).
