BREWSTER, Mass. -- The best round in school history has the Johnson & Wales University women's golf team in second place after day one of the NEIGA Women's Invitational. JWU shot an opening round 376 at the Captains Golf Course.
Johnson & Wales trails Suffolk by nine strokes and are ahead of Rhode Island College by 22 strokes.
Freshman Alexis Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa.) finds herself atop the leaderboard with an opening around 86. Up next is junior Megan LeBlanc (Madison, Conn.) with a 92 that ties her for sixth. Tied for 13th is Hannah Lifschin (Denville, NJ) and Caroline Mettler (Bluffton, Ind.) at 99.
The tournament wraps up on Monday with the final 18 holes.
