Women’s Golf In Fourth at Empire 8 Championship

BALLSTON SPA, NY – With the first round of the Empire 8 Championship in the books, the Johnson & Wales University women's golf team is in fourth place. The Wildcats shot a 400 during the opening 18 holes at the Ballston Spa Country Club.

The Wildcats are only three strokes behind St. John Fisher for third place. SUNY Cortland is in the lead at 344.

Leading the way was junior Megan LeBlanc (Madison, Conn.) who is in 12th with a 94. Also cracking the top 20 was fellow junior Hannah Hall (Farmington, Utah) at 96. Freshman Alexis Anastos (Lock Haven, Pa.) notched a 103 and sophomore Caroline Mettler (Bluffton, Ind.) came in at 107. Rounding out the JWU scores was Hannah Lifschin (Denville, N.J.) at 121 and Megan Janis (Commack, N.Y.) turned in a 122.

Final round action gets underway at 1 p.m.
