PROVIDENCE, RI – The spring season began on Saturday for the Johnson & Wales University women's golf team. The Wildcats defeated Westfield State, 423-453, at Metacomet Country Club.
Megan LeBlanc (Madison, Conn.) led the Wildcats with a score of 95. Freshman Caroline Mettler (Buffton, Ind.) followed with a 108. Megan Ogden (Canadaigua, NY) and Megan Janis (Commack, NY) each fired a 110. Rounding out the JWU contingency was Hannah Lifschin (Denville, NJ) at 114.
The lowest round of the day was shot by WSU's Bailey Loughlin with a 91. Kyla Murphy was second on the team at 103. Tia Pariseau came in with a 120 while Siobhan Carey posted a 138. Miread Kelly completed the Owls' scores at 146.
Johnson & Wales will face Westfield State and Rhode Island College on Sunday in a trimatch held at the Valley Country Club.
