MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The trend of second round improvement continued for the Johnson & Wales University women's golf team. After posting the lowest round of the year during the opening 18 holes of the George Phinney Golf Classic at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course, the Wildcats went even lower. JWU posted a total of 411 on Sunday to take 13th with a two-day score of 828 (417-411).
Breaking 90 for the first time this season was sophomore Megan LeBlanc (Madison, Conn.) as she cut nine strokes off her Saturday round for an 89. She posted a two-day total of 187 (98-89).
Also showing improvement in the second round was junior Pawntip Prasith (Old Saybrook. Conn.) as she knocked five strokes off her first 18 holes for a two-day total of 215 (110-105). Finishing just two strokes ahead of her was Caroline Mettler (Buffton, Ind.) at 213 (106-107). Junior Megan Janis (Commack, NY) followed with a 217 (107-11) and rookie Megan Ogden (Canadaigua, NY) rounded out the JWU contingency with a 219 (106-113).
Up next for the Wildcats is a home tri match with Wellesley and Rhode Island College at Alpine Country Club on Saturday, October 15.
