A successful collegiate student-athlete, Ariel Gaston brings a wealth of knowledge to the Johnson & Wales University women's basketball team. She joins head coach Kim Dweck's staff as an assistant coach for the 2019-20 campaign.

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Gaston comes to the Wildcats after one season as an assistant coach at Dean College where she helped the Bulldogs reach the NECC Tournament. While at Dean she oversaw recruiting, scouting and community service while also implementing the team's strength and conditioning program. 

Gaston was a standout player at the University of New Hampshire where she earned Third-Team All-America East Conference honors her senior year. Named AEC Player of the Week five times, she was a two-year team captain and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. 

Prior to joining the staff at Dean, Gaston worked in the private sector. She got her coaching start as an assistant at Bradford Christian Academy.

Gaston graduated from UNH in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She is working towards a master's in sport leadership from Northeastern University.
