NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Seeding for the upcoming GNAC Tournament was on the line Saturday between Norwich University and the Johnson & Wales University women's basketball teams. The Wildcats came out on top, 57-46, and grabbed the No. 7 seed.
Norwich: 8-17, 4-7 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 13-12, 5-6 GNAC
With the win, Johnson & Wales will be the seventh seed for next week's GNAC Tournament. The Wildcats will travel to Saint Joseph's on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Wildcats owned the first half, outscoring the Cadets, 27-16, in the first 20 minutes. JWU limited Norwich to just one bucket in the first eight minutes of the second quarter. Maddy Moro's jumper put JWU up 24-10 at the 2:15 mark.
The lead grew to as many as 17, 54-37, on a Britney Gallagher three-pointer at the 4:43 mark of the fourth quarter.
Gallagher paced the Wildcats with a game-high 19 points. Tiondra Hands was the only other JWU player in double figures with 12 points.
Saint Joseph's won the regular season match up, 70-53, thanks to a 19-6 fourth quarter.
