Warriors Hold Off JWU Women’s Basketball 75-65

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Johnson & Wales University women's basketball team made a fourth-quarter push at Eastern Connecticut State University but it wasn't enough to take down the Warriors. The Wildcats dropped a 75-65 decision at ECSU on Wednesday.

Eastern Connecticut State: 8-3
Johnson & Wales: 1-11

Statistical Leaders:
Ally Mishol (JWU): 19 points, 7 rebounds
Tiondra Hands (JWU): 10 points
Marissa Cottrell (JWU): 13 points, 10 rebounds

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales dug itself a hole when they were outscored 18-8 in the second quarter. ECSU took a 35-25 lead into the locker room.

Trailing by eight points going into the fourth quarter, the Wildcats worked the lead down to 59-56 with 5:41 to play on a Tiondra Hands three-pointer and jump shot by Dede Stevenson.

ECSU went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minute to seal the win. The Warriors were 20-of-28 from the charity stripe, compared to 9-of-11 by JWU.

Keeping the Wildcats in the game was eight three-pointers and 17 second-chance points from 14 offensive rebounds.

Senior Ally Mishol led the Wildcats with 19 points while Marissa Cottrell recorded her first double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
