PROVIDENCE, RI – The Johnson & Wales University women's basketball team traveled across town Tuesday night to take on Division I opponent Brown University. The Bears got out to a fast start as they defeated the Wildcats, 78-46.
Johnson & Wales: 1-3
Johnson & Wales hung with the Bears early in the first quarter. Brown took control of the opening stanza with a 12-2 run. The Bears outscored the Wildcats 14-3 in the second quarter to take a 40-16 lead into the half.
Brown had the advantage inside with a 38-8 margin for points in the paint which led to 40.7 percent shooting (33-81), compared to 27.1 (16-59) by the Wildcats. The Bears also had a 61-33 rebounding advantage.
Johnson & Wales plays its first home game of the season on Thursday when it takes on Dean at 7 p.m.
