CLERMONT, Fla. – The Johnson & Wales University softball team was on both ends of a run-rule game on Friday. JWU opened the day by shutting out Bluffton University, 9-0, then fell to York, 8-0.
Johnson & Wales: 2-4
Jenna Conroy belted the first home run of her career as part of a three-run fifth inning.
JWU ended the game early with two runs in the sixth inning, including an RBI single by Scales.
Senior Kristin Frost got it done in the circle and at the plate. She just missed a career-high with 10 strikeouts to get the victory while also going 2-for-4.
The Wildcats only had three base runners against York. Frost drew a walk to start the game and Scales picked up JWU's lone hit of the game with a single in the second.
In her first collegiate start, Livia Feole was saddled with the loss as she gave up three runs in just 2.1 innings of work.
The Wildcats wrap up the spring break trip Saturday when they play Lebanon Valley (1:45 PM) and Husson (4:15 PM).
