LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Johnson & Wales softball team was ranked No. 1 In the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-10 Team GPA with a team GPA of 3.78 for 2018-19 announced late Tuesday afternoon. Additionally, it also is the first time in six years a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) member institution earned the honors.
This marks the third consecutive year the Wildcats cracked the top-10 for its academic achievements, which included finishing second in 2017-18. Over 8,000 student-athletes earned NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors, which requires students to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year. Among them were 16 Wildcats: Sierra Ali, Megan Antaya, Mary Jane Bourgeois, Saxon Bresnahan, Olivia DiGiacomo, Brenna DuPerry, Gabriella Farino, Kristen Frost, Meghan Gavin, Zoe Jennings, Shari Minalga, Allison Misholl, Kayla Prior, Summer Ramundo, Julie Saliba, and Devin Scales.
