PROVIDENCE, RI – After winning a pair of GNAC games on Saturday, the Johnson & Wales University softball team had the tables turned on Sunday as they lost a doubleheader to Albertus Magnus College. The Falcons scored a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth to take game one, 4-1, and got the sweep by winning game two, 10-6.

The Wildcats got out to a quick start to game one as Brenna DuPerry led off with a double then came around to score on an Ally Mishol double. JWU had its chances with runners in scoring position during the third, fifth and sixth innings but they could not push another runner across.
Albertus Magnus got two runs back in the third on a Marris Guglielmi single and a base hit from Megan Anderson plated two more in the sixth.
Getting the victory was Laura Anderson as she kept JWU off the board after the first inning. She gave up seven hits and struck out five. Taking the loss was JWU's Kristin Frost who gave up four runs and struck out eight batters.
The Falcons picked up five runs in the first two innings of game two, including a two-run home run by Anderson in the second.
JWU scored twice in the third and got a two-run double by Megan Antaya in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-4. Unfortunately, Albertus Magnus answered with three more in the fifth.
Erin Dighello came on to pitch in the fourth and finished the game to get the victory. She gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits with three strikeouts. Zoe Jennings took the loss, giving up five runs in just 1.2 innings of work.
Johnson & Wales travels to Eastern Connecticut State on Tuesday for a 3:30 PM twinbill.
