BRISTOL, RI – The Johnson & Wales University softball team scored twice in the top of the seventh to pull ahead of host Roger Williams University. Unfortunately, the Wildcats gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and the Hawks prevailed, 4-3.
Roger Williams: 7-10
Johnson & Wales: 8-9
Roger Williams came back for a run in its half of the fifth off JWU reliever Zoe Jennings.
Kayla McKinnon led off the seventh with a single then scored on a Scales' double. An error on the RWU second baseman allowed Scales to score and build a 3-2 JWU lead.
The Hawks scored both of their runs in the seventh with two outs.
The Wildcats and Hawks play again on Tuesday at JWU with first pitch at 4 p.m.
