PROVIDENCE, RI – The Johnson & Wales University softball team got within two outs of sweeping Thursday's doubleheader against Eastern Connecticut State. The Wildcats took the opener, 7-2, but the Warriors scored three times in the seventh to win game two, 6-5.

Morgan Bolduk hit a pair of home runs in game one, including a deep drive in the third to open the scoring.
JWU responded with four runs in the bottom of the third. Meghan Gavin scored Ally Mishol with a single and came around to score on a Kristin Frost double. Frost crossed the plate on Katie Rufo's single.
Frost struck again in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run home run to score Mishol and Brenna DuPerry.
Eastern Connecticut State chased Frost from the game in the third inning. Christine Guyette roped a two-run double to score Kamdynn Moroney and Sabrina LeMere.
The Warriors rallied to get three runs in the top of the seventh. Kayla Santose delivered a two-run double. Kat Devolve's sacrifice fly scored Santos with the winning run. ECSU had several scoring opportunities, but stranded 13 runners on base.
Pitcher Morgan Sanson came on in the third to get the victory, giving up one run on eight hits. Weiss was saddled with the loss.
The Wildcats complete the GNAC schedule on Saturday when they host Rivier in a 12 p.m. doubleheader. Prior to the game, JWU will honor the eight graduating players on this year's team.
