Offensive Outburst Pushes Softball Past Norwich

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Runs were not hard to come by on Sunday for the Johnson & Wales University softball team. The Wildcats scored their second-most runs in a doubleheader this year as they took game one 12-0 off Norwich then completed the sweep with a 12-2 decision.

Of Note:
Before she toed the rubber, game one starter Jennifer Corona helped her own cause with an RBI double in the first. In the second, she cranked a two-run home run and added a sacrifice fly in the fourth. In the circle, she gave up just one hit with seven strikeouts.

Kristin Frost drove in runs in the first and second innings of game one. Her triple in the third inning of game two scored Meghan Gavin. Frost has 11 hits in the last six games, including a pair of hits in each of her last four contests.

Just like Corona, Frost was great in the circle. She won game two, giving up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Gavin opened the game two scoring with single to plate Brenna DuPerry. She had two hits in both games.

Alex Fantasia drove in Corona and Tiffani Semanchik during a five-run third inning. Semanchik collected a game-high three hits in the nightcap.
