Wildcats Take A Pair off Emmanuel

BOSTON – The Johnson & Wales University softball team continued its winning ways on Sunday. The Wildcats defeated Emmanuel 2-0 and 14-1 for their eighth win in a row.

Of Note:
In the fourth inning, Meghan Gavin provided all the offense JWU would need. She led off with a single, stole second and scored on Katie Rufo's single.

Pitcher Jennifer Corona padded her lead in the sixth when she drove in Tiffani Semanchik with a single. Corona notched a season-high 10 strikeouts while only giving up three hits.

Johnson & Wales got at least two runs in all five of its at-bats in the second game. Starting pitcher Kristin Frost helped her own cause with a two-run double in the first to score Semanchik and Meghan Gavin. Frost notched her fifth win by giving up one run on five hits with six strikeouts.

JWU got eight of its runs via the long ball. Brenna DuPerry cranked a two-run shot in the second then Kayla McKinnon jacked a three-run home run an inning later. Rufo completed the scoring with a three-run bomb in the fifth.
