JWU Cross Country Competes With the Best at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Every year the UMass Dartmouth Invitational attracts some of the best teams in New England. Competing against Division I, II and III schools, the Johnson & Wales University cross country teams held their own against a tough field.

The women finished 36th with 871 points, just nine points back of Framingham State. The men came in just behind Emerson in 37th place with 1,141 points.

The women's team had a number of runners improve their times from last week's race. The biggest improvement came from sophomore Kaylan Dunham as she cut two minutes to post a 20:00.92, the fastest time on the team. Mary Kelly followed, finishing in 21:58.95 and Victoria Barlow sliced one minute off her time to cross the line in 22:37.44. Fourth on the team was Megan Bradley with a time of 23:18.64. Hannah Blossom also improved her time by one minute, finishing in 23:48.91.

The men's team had its first time out on an 8k course. Leading the JWU contingency was Matthew Ursillo with a time of 31:21.26. Twenty seconds later, Cole Geraghty finished in 31:40.17. Next across the line was Alex Prusky, posting a time of 32:43.93. Brent Giles was next at 34:41.02, followed by Nick Pereira in 36:42.62, and Luis Santiago at 41:28.63.
