PROVIDENCE, RI -- The first win over Rivier University since 2007 was within reach for the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team, but the Wildcats couldn't come through on Wednesday. JWU dropped a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 23-25, 23-25) decision to the Raiders.

The match swung Rivier's way late in the third set. A Rivier service error gave the Wildcats a 23-20 advantage. However, the Raiders finished the set on a 5-0 run that included four kills.
Johnson & Wales hit .324 on its way to winning the first set, but couldn't keep up that rate the rest of way as the Raiders had a .153-to-.112 advantage.
Topping all players was Jack Pincince's with 20 kills along with seven digs. Sanjae Holloway was on the verge of a triple-double with nine kills, nine digs and six blocks. Setter Ben Sandt handed out 33 assists with 11 digs.
David Smith had a dozen kills and nine digs for the Raiders while Francis Kokoros added 10. Quinn Foglia recorded a match-high seven blocks.
JWU goes on the road Saturday to face Wentworth and Lasell.
