BEVERLY, Mass. – It was tough sledding on Saturday for the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team as they faced a ranked opponent and another receiving votes. JWU lost a narrow 3-2 (25-23, 28-26, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10) decision to #13 Endicott after falling 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-15) to MIT.

After dropping the first two sets to the Gulls, Johnson & Wales used a scoring spurt in the middle of set three to take a 17-12 lead.
A trio of JWU errors allowed Endicott to jump out to a 9-2 lead in the fifth.
Sophomore Jack Pincince notched a career-high 23 kills against the Gulls.
In the opener against MIT, Johnson & Wales had a chance to take the second set when Pincince and Zach Turner teamed up for a block that made it 25-25. The Engineers answered with a pair of kills by Jack Yurkanin.
JWU couldn't find its offense in the third set, hitting .062 and .133 for the match. MIT also benefited from eight aces and 10 blocks.
Johnson & Wales travels to Rochester, NY next weekend for the Golden Flyer Invitational, hosted by Nazareth College.
