ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team faced stiff competition in the opening weekend of the 2020 season. JWU started day two of the Cardinal Invitational by falling to No. 11 Wells College 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-15) then dropped a 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 30-28) decision to the host St. John Fisher College.

Jack Pincince's kill and a Wells error tied the first set at 23-23. The Express came through with a kill then a JWU error gave Wells the opening set.
The Wildcats couldn't stop Wells offensively in sets two and three as WC hit .387 and .333 on its way to an overall .291 rate.
Against the hosts, the Wildcats gave up runs in the middle of the first two sets that allowed SJFC to go up 2-0. The Wildcats staved off six match points in the third set, but could never swing the lead in their favor.
Pincince led the way offensively in both games. He notched 11 kills versus Wells and just missed a double-double with nine kills and nine digs against the hosts.
The Cardinals benefited from 11 aces while also hitting .243.
The Wildcats play their home opener Friday when they host the JWU Tip-Off Tournament.
