WINTHROP, Mass. – During the final week of the season, the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team did what it needed to do to wrap up a home game during the opening round of the GNAC Tournament. Josh Pitzer and Jack Pincince helped the Wildcats to three wins and were rewarded with GNAC Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
A native of North Kingstown, RI, Pitzer picks up his first weekly honor from the league. Pincince, who hails from South Kingstown, RI, is a two-time recipient. Emmanuel's Erik English was named Offensive Player of the Week.
Pitzer averaged 1.14 blocks including seven rejections in the win against Lasell. He also had 2.36 kills per set while hitting .571.
Pincince averaged 4.07 kills and 1.36 digs while hitting .390. He had a season-high 19 kills against Emmanuel along with three aces and six digs. Pincince also produced 16 kills versus Lasell and 13 versus Emerson.
JWU is the third seed in the GNAC Tournament for the second year in a row. The Wildcats will host Emerson on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
