PROVIDENCE, RI – For the second match in a row, the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team couldn't close out a GNAC contest. The Wildcats lost 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 10-15) to Wentworth then came back to beat Medgar Evers 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-19).

A handful of JWU hitting errors allowed Wentworth to take the opening set. Johnson & Wales found its offensive rhythm in set two, hitting .500 and followed that up with a .448 percentage in the third set.
Attacking woes plagued the Wildcats in set four as they hit -.034 to force a fifth set. A Sanjae Holloway kill pulled JWU within 6-4 in the fifth set, but the Wildcats committed a pair of errors to build the WIT lead to 9-4.
It was the first time this season the Wildcats had four or more players with 10 kills, led by Jack Pincince's team-high 12 winners. Holloway had an 11-kill, 10-dig double-double.
JWU got out to a fast start against Medgar Evers in the first set, but the Cougars worked their way back to 22-20. A Cameron Ponce kill in between MEC errors gave JWU the opening set.
Tough serving and defense propelled the Wildcats to the final two sets. They held the Cougars to a .040 hitting percentage in the second set then hit .364 themselves in the final stanza.
Ponce posted a 10-kill, 17-assist double-double along with six digs and three blocks. Holloway just missed back-to-back double-doubles with 11 kills and eight digs.
The Wildcats host Emerson at 7 pm on Tuesday.
