Midway through the second set, JWU went on a 9-1 run to take a 22-13 lead on a Ponce kill. The Wildcats opened set three with an 11-7 lead on a Lasell error and even though the Lasers got within two, JWU pulled away on its way to victory.

The offense was evenly distributed with five different Wildcats recording six or more kills. Nick Bitetto topped all players with eight winners, followed by LaVassuer and Ponce with seven each.  JWU limited the Lasers to a .114 hitting percentage while hitting .192 themselves.

Johnson & Wales' defense was too much for Medgar Evers. The Wildcats held the Cougars to a -.119 hitting. JWU also had eight blocks compared to two by MEC. Sophomore Josh Pitzer produced 10 kills – with a .818 hitting percentage - to go along with five blocks.
