Alumni Spotlight – Seth Schoem
Team: Men's Soccer (1999-2002)
Degrees: Associates in Culinary Arts (Associates) and Food Service Management '03
Any Family Updates: Married with two boys. My two-year-old just became a cancer survivor!!
Current Occupation: Director of Food and Nutrition for Compass Group USA
Job Responsibilities: Complete oversight of food and nutrition for a hospital. Patient meals, visitor meals and catering.
How did JWU help prepare you for your current position?: JWU helped prepare me by giving me real-world scenarios in the classroom and on the field. I learned how the decisions I make can have a direct effect on others. When I made bad decisions, I had teammates to lean on for support, and when I struggled in the classroom, the professors were right there for me to offer additional guidance.
Favorite JWU memory(ies): Being a student-athlete I had several, but winning a GNAC title and playing in the NCAA tournament was a dream come true. My senior year of college is something I'll remember forever.
Advice for current student-athletes: Network with the alumni. They cleared a path for your sport and your field of study. They've been where you are and where you're going. Take advantage of it. Don't take the four years for granted, it goes by in a blink of an eye.
