Men's Soccer Continues Streak at Albertus Magnus

Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team travelled to Connecticut on Wednesday night to compete against a solid Albertus Magnus club on their home pitch.  The Wildcats stayed aggressive the entire night and managed two goals to secure another big road victory and keep their conference unbeaten streak intact.  

Records:

Albertus Magnus: 8-7-1 (5-4 GNAC)

Johnson & Wales: 14-2 (9-0 GNAC)

Of Note:

JWU controlled the ball early in this one as they peppered the Falcon keeper with eight shots while holding Albertus Magnus to only three in the first half. 

The Wildcats broke through in the 15th minute when Riley McNicholas capped his 15th goal of his career with an assist from JP Rioux.  It was Rioux's fifth assist on the year and his 25th point.   

In the second half, JWU added a second goal to secure the win as Nick Gutekunst notched his 11th goal of the season with the set up from Alexander Pane in the 77th minute.  Gutekunst leads the team with 30 points and is third in the conference.      

The Wildcats nearly doubled the Falcons on the shot total 15-8, while the corners were practically equal with the Wildcats gaining the 4-3 advantage.  

 

Next Game:

The Wildcats have set the table for an outstanding match-up on Saturday when they host Saint Joseph's College from Maine at 1 p.m.  The Monks have not lost a match in conference play since 2015.
