Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team looked to continued their conference winning streak as they hosted Norwich University on Friday. The Cadets came to Providence with the third seed and with aspirations to disrupt the Wildcats undefeated streak in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. With both teams highly skilled the match featured tough midfield play and superb defense. In the end, JWU wrestled away the 1-0 victory from Norwich to command the top seed in the conference with three conference matches to go.

The match was played skilled and defensively as both teams kept the other at bay. JWU managed seven shots to Norwich's two as both teams gave little ground in the first half.
In the 36th minute, Joulien Martinelli headed in his first goal of his career in what would end up being the game winner. It was a chaotic play that was settled by Riley McNicholas and put home by Martinelli.
The second half featured some chances for both teams, however as time ticked away, it became clear stopping the equalizer was the goal for the Wildcats. The stout defense of JWU head true at the conclusion and the game was decided for the gold and blue.
The Wildcats barely held the shot advantage from the Cadets 11 to 10 and the corners were controlled by Norwich 3-2.
The Wildcats hit the road on Wednesday when they take on Albertus Magnus at 7 p.m. as they look to continue their conference streak in Connecticut.
