Gutekunst Reels In Second GNAC Player of the Week Accolades

WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder Nick Gutekunst (East Northport, N.Y.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the second time announced Monday afternoon. It is all the third straight week a member of the Johnson & Wales squad received the weekly conference honor. 

Registering two goals and two assists for eight points, Gutekunst helped Johnson & Wales remain perfect in conference play with a pair of victories over Emmanuel College and Anna Maria College. Midway through the week in a 4-2 road win over Emmanuel, the Long Island native scored the eventual game-winner in the 44th minute. Additionally, he connected with JP Rioux for the first Wildcat goal in the eighth minute before scoring his first goal of the game four minutes later. Gutekunst added his second assist of the contest seven minutes in to the second half. Gutekunst closed out the week helping the Wildcats to its seventh shutout, recording two goals and two assists for four points against GNAC foe Anna Maria College.

Johnson & Wales returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 16 hosting the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) at 4 p.m.
