Johnson & Wales Men’s Soccer and Norwich Play to 1-1 Tie

PROVIDENCE, RI – Four periods of soccer were not enough to decide a winner between the Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team and Norwich University. Each team scored in the first 10 minutes, but couldn't score in the final 100 minutes as they played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Records:
Norwich: 3-3-4, 2-0-3 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 8-1-1, 3-1-1 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:
Andrew Vecere (JWU): 1 goal
Matt Mazzola (NU): 1 goal

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales got on the board just 3:11 into the contest. Erik Schneider (Plantsville, Conn.) served the ball to the box where Andrew Vecere (Wayne, NJ) collected it and put it in for his first goal of the season.

Five minutes later, Norwich evened the game. Matt Mazzola got the ball out of a scrum in front of the net and put it home for his second goal on the year.

The rest of the way neither team could get the go-ahead goal. Johnson & Wales had plenty of chances with a 28-7 advantage in shots. Norwich goalkeeper Brendan Germano kept the Cadets in the game by making nine saves.

Next Game:
The Wildcats are on the road Wednesday when they travel to Mount Ida for a 7 p.m. contest.
