BRISTOL, R.I. – For the second day in a row, a penalty kick was all the Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team needed for victory. The Wildcats won their fifth game in a row as they defeated Roger Williams University, 1-0, on Sunday
Roger Williams: 5-3-2
Johnson & Wales: 7-1
The game was on its way to overtime when Roger Williams was whistled for a penalty with 41.8 seconds remaining. Jozef Jennings (Barrington, R.I.) drilled the penalty kick through the left side to lift the Wildcats to victory. Jennings' PK defeated Rivier on Saturday
Johnson & Wales had several good scoring opportunities. Jehon Balidemaj's (Bronx, N.Y.) header in the 11th minute just missed and Erik Goncalves' (Clifton Park, N.Y.) shot hit the crossbar in the 53rd minute.
There was plenty of action on both ends of the field as the Wildcats had a 17-13 advantage in shots. JWU goalkeeper Nicholas Mancini (Toms River, N.J.) made three saves for his third-straight shutout.
The Wildcats resume conference action on Wednesday when they travel to Emmanuel for a 7 p.m. contest.
