MILTON, Mass. – After a slow start to the season offensively, the Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team is finding the back of the net in bunches. For the third match in a row, JWU scored at least three goals as it went on the road to beat Curry, 5-0, on Wednesday.
Johnson & Wales: 5-1-2
Johnson & Wales got all the offense it would need in the span of 16 seconds in the first half. Freshman Jason Cruz (Providence, RI) opened the scoring when recorded his third goal of the year at the 25:03 mark. Sixteen seconds later he assisted on Andrew Vecere's (Wayne, NJ) goal to put JWU up 2-0.
For good measure, the Wildcats tacked on three goals in the second half. Teagan Drake (Waterbury, Vt.) scored in the 67th minute. Sophomore Yohann Assouramou (Cotonou, Benin) put the match out of reach with back-to-back goals to round out the scoring. It's the first time in his career that he's scored two goals in a match.
Senior Jon Robbins (Berkeley Heights, NJ) got the start in goal and turned away all five shots he faced to pick up the victory. Johnson & Wales had a 23-7 shot margin, including 14-5 on goal.
The Wildcats are back in conference play on Saturday when they travel to Suffolk for a 1 p.m. start.
