Late Run Comes Up Short, Men's Lacrosse Falls 14-11 at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. - The Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team fell to the Nichols College Bison, 14-11, on Wednesday. The Wildcats' fourth-quarter comeback fell short as Tyler Drago collected four goals for his third -straight hat trick.

Nichols: 2-4
Johnson & Wales: 1-4

Of Note:
Drago and Matt Gelb connected on the first two Wildcats goals to give JWU an early lead. The Bison responded with two-straight goals of their own in a span of three minutes. Xavier Chiovera scored his first goal of the season with the man-up advantage to give Johnson & Wales a 3-2 lead 3-2 after the first quarter.

Wildcats were held scoreless in the second quarter and Eric Fellenstein netted two goals for the Bison to give the hosts a 4-3 halftime lead.

JWU started the third quarter off hot with back-to-back goals from Drago and Alex Padula. Hunter Ferreria scored twice during a 5-0 Nichols run. Andrew Vasile has now scored in five-straight games to start his career as he ended the third with a buzzer-beater. 

Johnson & Wales opened the fourth quarter by scoring four out of the first five goals to tie the game at 10-10 on Chiovera's tally. Unfortunately, Nichols responded by scoring three-straight goals to put the game out of reach.

The Bison held the advantage in shots, 47-34, while the Wildcats won the faceoff battle 16-12.
