CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team lost to the MIT Engineers, 12-5, on Wednesday afternoon. The Engineers outscored the Wildcats, 6-3, in the first quarter on their way to victory.
Johnson & Wales: 2-9
After falling behind, 3-0, the Wildcats scored three-straight goals during a 6:06 stretch in the middle of the quarter. Ben Ferrell scored the first of his team-high two goals with 10:24 on the clock.
Both teams were scoreless for the first nine and a half minutes of the second quarter. The Engineers scored three goals to end the first half with a 9-3 lead.
After being shutout in the third quarter, the Wildcats found the back of the net 58 seconds into the fourth when Ferrell scored a man up. Chris Calisto tallied his fourth goal of the season with 2:52 remaining in the game.
MIT had the advantage in shots, 38-25, and ground balls, 39-18.
Johnson & Wales is home Saturday for Senior Day against Rivier University at 12 pm.
