PROVIDENCE, RI – The Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team couldn't sustain its fast start on Saturday. The Wildcats dropped a 16-7 decision to Rivier.
Rivier: 6-6, 5-1 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 4-10, 3-3 GNAC
The Raiders scored the first two goals of the first quarter then JWU answered with four-straight goals to end the quarter up 4-2. Four different Wildcats scored during the run, including Eric Russo's tally with five seconds left in the opening frame.
Unfortunately, Rivier outscored Johnson & Wales, 10-1 over the next two quarters. Russo and Sam Sears scored in the fourth quarter but the Wildcats couldn't close the gap.
Ben Farrell was tops on the team with a goal and three assists. Russo and Sears had two points each.
The Wildcats play their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday against Emmanuel at 7 p.m.
