PAXTON, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team played a tough non-conference schedule to get ready for GNAC play. The Wildcats scored six goals in the second quarter on their way to a 14-8 decision at Anna Maria on Wednesday.
Anna Maria: 2-6, 0-1 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 2-7, 1-0 GNAC
Johnson & Wales dug itself a 4-0 hole in the first 10 minutes of the opening quarter. Brad Kretz got JWU on the board with a pair of goals before the end of the frame.
Another Kretz goal just 93 seconds into the second quarter ignited a 5-0 JWU run to give the Wildcats a 7-4 lead. Johnson & Wales went into the half with an 8-6 advantage.
Seven different Wildcats scored, led by Kretz's season-high four goals. Sears notched a career-high five assists as part of his career-best seven points.
JWU nearly doubled Anna Maria shot total (49-28) while picking up 10 more ground balls (43-33). Goalkeeper Bradley Morris made 12 saves.
Johnson & Wales is on the road Saturday when it travels to Norwich for a 1 p.m. contest.
