PORTLAND, MAINE – The Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team made a late surge, but couldn't complete the comeback at St. Joseph's College on Saturday. The Wildcats dropped an 11-10 decision.

The first and third quarters were the Wildcats' undoing. The Monks outscored Johnson & Wales 6-2 during that span.
The Wildcats found themselves down 10-7 with 11 minutes left in the game. Junior Sam Sears (Baltimore, Md.) single-handedly brought JWU back as he scored three-straight goals to tie the game with 3:45 remaining.
Michael Finn scored the game winner with 1:31 left on the clock.
JWU had the advantage for faceoffs (16-7) and ground balls (38-32). The difference in the game can on special teams where the Wildcats were 0-6 with the extra attacker while the Monks went 1-4 on the advantage.
Johnson & Wales is on the road Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game at Albertus Magnus.
