Men’s Lacrosse Drops 19-4 Decision Against Salve Regina

The men's lacrosse team suffered a 19-4 setback against intra-state rival Salve Regina in a non-conference contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Johnson & Wales senior Keegan Donaher (Chelmsford, Mass.) tallied two goals and added an assist while sophomore Chris Macchi (Hastings-On-Hudson, N.Y.) had two goals in the loss for the Wildcats.

Sophomore Sharp Jones (Scituate, Mass.) tallied four goals for Salve Regina while senior Curtis Mckeon (West Haven, Conn.) scored three goals, including the game-winner for the Seahawks.

Salve Regina had goals from seven different players in the first half and took the 12-1 lead heading into halftime.  It was more of the same in the second half as the visiting Seahawks cruised to the 19-4 victory.

Junior Jack Pettine (Foxboro, Mass.) made seven stops and senior Mike Russo (Chelmsford, Mass.) had 12 saves in the loss for JWU.  Sophomore Brian Farina (Jenkintown, Pa.) and freshman Andrew Watkins (Natick, Mass.) combined for eight saves in the win for Salve Regina.

With the setback Johnson & Wales is now 0-2 on the season while Salve Regina improves to 3-0.  The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, March 8th when they host Thomas in a non-conference contest at 4:00 p.m.
