Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team continued their New York swing of the New England Hockey Conference when they visited Skidmore College on Saturday. The Wildcats were able to hold the Thoroughbreds to one goal in the first period but were unable to slow them down in the second and third. Skidmore put three on the board in the second and two more in the third to quell a Wildcat comeback at 6-2.

The Wildcats once again were able to defend judiciously in the first period holding the Thoroughbreds to one goal in the first period by Mike Gelatt in the 7th minute of the opening frame. Skidmore peppered 15 shots on goal to JWU's six.
The second period, Skidmore increased their accuracy scoring three goals on ten shots. Gelatt, David Poirier, and Austin Rook were all able to find the back of the net and increase the lead. JWU's Craig Hessenius scored his first of the year at the 7th minute of the period to keep the Wildcats in striking distance going into the third.
The third period found JWU down 5-1 when Graham Day scored his first of the year at the 8th minute. With the score 5-2 and JWU making a bid, Skidmore closed the door with their 6th goal and that solidified the 6-2 result.
Skidmore held the shot advantage 44 to 24 and faceoffs were in also the Thoroughbred's favor 35 to 26.
The Wildcats host New England College on Friday, November 22nd at the Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, RI. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
