Pawtucket, RI – The Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team started strong on Friday when they hosted Post University at Lynch Arena for their home opener. Unfortuntely for the Wildcats, the Eagles weathered the rough waters and put three power play goals on the board in the middle of the game on route to the 5-3 Post victory.

JWU came out hot in the first period scoring two goals in the 10th and 16th minutes of play. Matt Bernot was first to light the lamp while Logan Orem followed up with the second goal. Peter Costa had assists on both scoring plays.
With the Wildcats up 2-0, the Eagles marched back into the game with three straight power play goals spearheaded by Kieran Gardner, Niko Grollman, and Noah Wild that spanned the end of the first period plus two in the second.
The Wildcats submitted another goal to Grollman at the 16th minute of the second period leaving the score 4 -2.
At the 13th minute of the 3rd, JWU pushed to get back into the match with a power play goal of their own by Conor Cassidy. It was as close as JWU would get as the Eagles would score on an empty net to secure the 5-3 result.
The Eagles had the slight shot advantage 21-19.
The Wildcats dive into New England Hockey Conference play on Friday when they visit Hobart for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
