PAWTUCKET, RI – It was a promising start Saturday afternoon for the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team against 10th-ranked Norwich University. JWU scored the first goal, but the Cadets answered with five unanswered scores for the 5-1 NEHC victory.

JWU jumped out to a 1-0 lead six minutes into the game. Connor Bechtel corralled a loose puck in front of the net and jammed it home for his team-leading ninth goal of the year.
Norwich took advantage of a power play opportunity midway through the period for its first goal then scored again 80 seconds later. Brett Ouderkirk tallied his second goal of the period just 37 seconds before the intermission.
Much of the night was spent in the JWU end of the ice as Norwich had a 29-13 edge in shots.
Johnson & Wales goes on the road next Friday to take on #14 Hobart
