PAWTUCKET, RI – Four third-period goals allowed the Castleton University men's ice hockey team to get past Johnson & Wales University on Friday. The Spartans defeated the Wildcats, 4-3, in a NEHC contest.
Castleton: 4-14-4, 2-11-2 NEHC
Johnson & Wales: 4-15-3, 2-10-2 NEHC
CU: Wyatt Pickrell (W, 3-12-4) 20 Saves
JWU: Mike Rockwell (L, 2-11-3) 40 Saves

Conor Cassidy (JWU): 2 Assists
Matt Bloomer (CU): 1 Goal (GW)
Junior Conor Cassidy set up two of the first three Wildcat goals. In the first period, he fed Jake Glod from behind the net at the 14:53 mark. Five minutes into the second period, he raced down the left boards to center the puck to a streaking Matt Bernot to give JWU a 3-0 lead.
Chad Guderian scored a point for the third time in four games when Connor Bechtel gathered a loose puck at the blue line, fed Guderian at the right faceoff circle and his wrist shot found the back of the net.
The Spartans rallied by twice scoring a pair of goals within a minute of each other. Mark Shroyer got the scoring started just 43 seconds into the third period then Dom Kuziak redirected a shot 57 seconds later.
Castleton took advantage of the power play when the puck was deflected to Glenn Wiswell and his one-timer lit the lamp. A fluke short-handed goal that caromed off the leg of JWU goalie Mike Rockwell ended up being the game-winner.
Shots heavily favored the Spartans, 44-23, and the Wildcats were whistled for 11 penalties.
Johnson & Wales is home Saturday at 4 p.m. to face #10 Norwich.
