Men’s Hockey Falls 9-0 at Utica

UTICA, NY - The offensive firepower of host Utica was too much for the Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team on Friday. The Wildcats lost a 9-0 decision to the Pioneers.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 3-6 while the Pioneers improved to 5-2.

Johnson & Wales found itself down 2-0 after the first period. The Wildcats killed off all three penalties in the first half, but Utica capitalized on its first opportunity in the second period, scoring at the 4:02 mark. The Pioneers added a fourth goal just 24 seconds later.

Johnson & Wales spent most of the evening in its own zone as Utica had a 47-10 advantage in shots. JWU was 1-for-9 on the penalty kill.

JWU completes the weekend road trip on Saturday when it travels to Morrisville State for a 3:30 pm contest.
