Rockwell’s Shutout Gives Men’s Hockey a 2-0 Win over Becker

PAWTUCKET, RI. – For the second game in a row, Johnson & Wales University goaltender Mike Rockwell came up big against Becker College. The rookie made 25 saves as the Wildcats defeated the Hawks, 2-0, on Saturday.

Of Note:
It's the first time in nearly 20 years that Johnson & Wales has recorded back-to-back shutout victories.

Johnson & Wales got the first goal of the game just past the halfway point of the first period. Ryan Sete (Jackson, Mich.) put back the rebound of Nicholas Pezza's (Smithfield, RI) shot for his third goal in the last two games.

The Wildcats made it a two-goal advantage in the second period. At the 10:29 mark, Victor Carlson (Calmar, Sweden) fed a centering pass to Jordan Stone (Parker, Colo.) and he beat Ryan Clifford on the one-timer for the first goal of his collegiate career.

Becker had an opportunity in the final minutes of the third period when it went on the power play, but the Hawks could not break through for a goal. Johnson & Wales had a 35-25 advantage in shots.
