BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Johnson & Wales University men's ice hockey team grabbed a quick lead Thursday night at the University New England, but couldn't make it last. The Nor'easters rallied to defeat the Wildcats 8-1.
The loss dropped Johnson & Wales to 2-4 overall, 1-4 in the CCC. UNE improved to 2-2-1 in the league and overall.
From there, however, it was all Nor'easters. Brady Fleurant tied the game when he scored the first of his three goals at the 12:39 mark of the first period. Two of those goals came during the third period when UNE broke the game open with six goals. The Nor'easters more than doubled JWU in shots (49-23) and were 4-of-6 on the power play.
The Wildcats will try to stop their four-game slide on Saturday when they travel to Curry for a 4:45 p.m. contest.
