Wildcats Stand Second After First Day at NEIGA

Brewster, Massachusetts – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team was on the Port Course at The Captain's Golf Course on Sunday for the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association championships.  The Wildcats had a solid first day shooting a 301 as they positioned themselves well for an strong second day of the tournament.

JWU's day was only bettered by one other school on Sunday.  The Wildcats sit ten strokes back of Babson, the 17th team in the country, and will look to better their score on the second day of the tournament to catch the Beavers.  Babson has four of their five golfers in the top five of the leaderboard, with the fifth tied for eighth.  The Wildcats, however, are not far behind.

JWU's Matt Delay was the top overall golfer on Sunday.  Delay shot a 71, good for one under and the top spot on the individual leaderboard.  Alex Parente finished tied for eighth with a 74.  Mac Patch notched a day one 77 posting him tied for thirteenth.  Hunter DiLorenzo marked a 79 while teammate Ryan Malloy finished his day with an 82.

The Wildcats will tackle the Starboard Course at The Captain's Golf Course Monday as they will look to put pressure on Babson and the rest of the field.
