Biddeford, Maine – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team is at the halfway point of their Great Northeast Athletic Conference title defense and they have some work to do. The Wildcats have won the GNAC crown the last two years, however currently they sit third after shooting a 310 on day one.
Both schools from Maine are ahead of JWU at the turn. The University of Southern Maine sits atop of the leaderboard with a 297, while Saint Joseph's of Maine is second with their 308 total. With JWU only back thirteen and two, respectively, of the leaders, the final day of the tournament could be anyone's ball game.
The Wildcats were lead by Hunter DiLorenzo who shot a 74 and is tied for second individually in the tournament. Nico Ciolino and Mac Patch also had solid first day performances as they both tied for eighth shooting 77s. Alex Parente notched an 82 on his first round while Ryan Malloy had an 84 to finish the day.
The tournament concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes. The winning team receives the NCAA bid and is the conference champion for 2019.
