Wildcats Start NCAA Men’s Golf Championships

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team started the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships on Monday at the Keene Trace Golf Club. The Wildcats opened the tournament with a first-round score of 339 and are in 41st place.

Johnson & Wales trails the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford and Stevenson University by eight strokes. Illinois Wesleyan leads the field with a 287 with Concordia (TX) a stroke back.

Leading the Wildcats was sophomore Claudio Soukamneuth with a 76. He's tied for 60th. Classmate Hunter DiLorenzo was next with an 82. In his first NCAA Tournament round, Mac Patch posted a 90 while Alex Parente was a stroke back. Ryan Malloy rounded out the scores with a 94.

After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams.
