The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday. The Wildcats took eighth at the Hampton Inn Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
The Wildcats captured the Spring Challenge title with the lowest combined score from the RIC Invitational, Wildcats Spring Invitational and Hampton Inn Invitational. It's the first time JWU has won the title since it was introduced seven years ago.
JWU was five shots better in the second round, firing rounds of 324 and 319 for a 643. The host Corsairs won with a 623.
Leading the Wildcats was Ryan Malloy as he was three shots better in the second 18 holes for a 155 (79-76) to take 11th. Claudio Soukamneuth was next at 161 (79-82). Junior Alex Parente was three strokes better with a 163 (83-80). Hunter DiLorenzo cut two strokes off his first round for a 164 (83-81). The biggest improvement came from Matt Daley, who fired a 170 (87-83).
