Hosts in Second After Day One of Wildcats Spring Invitational

CRANSTON, RI – With one round in the books, the Johnson & Wales University men's golf team is within striking distance of its second-straight team title. JWU is in second place after day one of the Wildcats Spring Invitational at Cranston Country Club.

Amherst College leads the way with an 18-hole score of 297. Johnson & Wales is tied with Providence College at 301 while Husson is in fourth at 307.

Cole Vissicchio from Amherst College shot the low round of the day with a 71. Hunter DiLorenzo (Johnson & Wales), Henry Hughes (Tufts) and Alex Jenkins (Providence) are tied for second with a 73.

All five Wildcats shot in the 70s as DiLorenzo was followed by Ryan Malloy at 75 to tie for eighth. Claudio Soukamneuth is in a tie for 15th at 76. Firing an opening round 77 was Alex Parente and Mac Patch.

Johnson & Wales had a trio of individual entries. Christian Maselli shot 75 while Justin Lavoie carded a 76 and Matt Daley produced a 79.

The final 18 holes will be played on Sunday.
