WARWICK, RI – The Johnson & Wales University men's golf team got the spring campaign started on the right foot. The Wildcats captured the team title at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational, held at the Valley Country Club.
The leaders after day one, the Wildcats shot the second-lowest round on Saturday for a two-day total of 627 (310-317). JWU finished four strokes ahead of Endicott and Tufts.
Junior Alex Parente sliced two strokes off his first round to come in third at 152 (77-75). Mac Patch cracked the top 10 with a 157 (74-83) and Claudio Soukamneuth posted a 159 (76-83). The biggest improvement came from Hunter DiLorenzo as he cut five strokes for a 161 (83-78). Ryan Malloy was two strokes better at 164 (83-81).
Johnson & Wales will serve as the host school next week at the Wildcat Spring Invitational, April 13-14, at Cranston Country Club.
